Palm Kernel Shells

Palm kernel shells are a by-product in palm oil production and are commonly used in the natural biomass energy industry. Palm kernel shells (or PKS) are shell fragments that remain after the seeds are removed after being crushed in the Palm Oil mill. It is a fibrous material, brownish yellow in color and can be easily handled in bulk right from the product line to end use. Due to its high calorific value, 4000 Kcal/kg average, and low ash content, it is considered an attractive fuel source in energy production from renewable sources.
